Fitzgerald won’t say if he has the votes for lame-duck bills

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald would not say Monday whether his caucus has the votes necessary to pass a controversial set of lame-duck proposals. He also questioned why Democrats are upset at the potential changes to the executive branch: “People are outraged. I’m not sure where that’s coming from right now.” > Cap Times

  1. First, there are 7 bills, introduced Friday. On this alone, whey should not be holding a vote: They did not have time to read them.
Scott Fitzgerald pretending to be surprised that we are outraged at his power grab during an “extraordinary lame duck session” is ridiculous on the face of it.
The big problem is that we are terribly gerrymandered: In this latest election, gerrymandering was so bad that in spite of getting the popular vote 53.5% to 46% and all the top positions, Democrats only got 37.5% of the seats. This will have to change or folks will get violent. https://www.joshklemons.com/blog/a-democratic-election-an-undemocratic-result
