DNA backlog grows to nearly 800 cases in state crime labs, new figures show

State crime lab workers have recently sped up drug tests, but a backlog of months-old DNA evidence has continued to grow. Attorney General Brad Schimel, who oversees the crime labs, released new figures Friday about the tests, four weeks after USA TODAY-Wisconsin requested them under open records laws. > Appleton Post Crescent
