Assembly rejects background check bill in favor of funding armed school guards

The Assembly voted on party lines Tuesday to reject a proposal requiring universal background checks for gun purchases in Wisconsin, opting instead to offer funds for armed guards in schools and cracking down on “straw purchasing.” Students from several Madison high schools joined Assembly Democrats Tuesday in calling for stricter gun control laws. > Cap Times
